We prepared a study guide today for the unit and watched a few Horrible Histories.
Today we simulated the Inquisition as we close out our Middle Ages unit. Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? Well, it wasn't cookies and perhaps they didn't steal anything...
How would you do if you were king of England? We role played John's decisions to discover if we could have kept our crown or if we would have been forced to sign the Magna Carta.
Today we learned about respect and appropriate displays of political opinion in the classroom. Due to student interest, we held a mock presidential election after learning about the current primary election process. We also learned about the electoral college that will be used in November's general election.

Which part of a castle's defenses were the most important? After learning about the parts of a castle we wrote a paragraph to defend our decision.
Knights were held to a code of conduct known as chivalry, which closely guided their actions in war and peace. We looked at their code of behavior and made connections to modern day.
We explored a medieval manor today via the web. Students found answers to a webquest using the button link on the Middle Ages page.
Medieval serfs found their loyalties divided between their church and political leaders. Who had more control/power over the people? We examined five cases of pope vs king disputes.
We read from the Middle Ages book about the influence of the Church during the Middle Ages. After answering some questions, we worked on our maps.
Today we started our maps of the different kingdoms of the Middle Ages. We also finished our notes on feudalism/manorialism.
