Today we learned what mythology is and then performed a class Readers Theater on the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Today we wrote down the difference between polytheism (many gods) and monotheism (one god). We also drew a picture of the Mesopotamian social class pyramid. The rest of class was time to work on our maps.

We watched a video about the Ice Man and wondered what really happened in the Alps all those years ago...
Today we looked at the virtual tour of the Lascaux Cave in France. What is the bird on a stick? Duck shish kebob? We also chipped artifacts out of ice in preparation for tomorrow's lesson.
We watched a short clip that demonstrated how important fire was as a tool of early humans. We also looked at some flint tools. Most importantly, we saw how difficult it was to capture food thanks to the over-dramatization of the Croods.
Today we read from the Nat Geo books about prehistory and early humans. We began our study guides with the words nomad, hunter-gatherer, and Mr. Frenzel told some quick stories.
Today we reviewed everything from the unit and played some practice games. Test is tomorrow!
Mr. Frenzel returned from his meetings and we reviewed in preparation for the Geography test.
In Mr. Frenzel's absence we practiced the continents, oceans, and latitude/longitude addresses with maps and markers. We also played Four Cardinal Directions with the sub.
In remembrance of Patriot Day, we learned about the events of September 11, 2001. Our interview assignment was due today as well.

We finished our previews of the continents today by learning a little about North and South America.
Today we received our interview assignment. It is due back by next Monday. We also learned about the 7 continents and 5 oceans that we will be tested on.
Today we learned about the Prime Meridian and the four cardinal directions (North, East, South, and West). We also labeled the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn on our foldables.
